

James L. McElroy is focusing his mediation skills and his vast experience on commercial, securities, corporate and technology disputes. He is presently a Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Mediator.
He is a partner in the Cumberland Law Group, which specializes in corporate law, mergers and acquisition, venture capital, start-up and development stage companies, technology and real estate. He also recently founded CLG Title & Escrow Services, LLC. Previously he was a partner at Baker Donelson Bearman & Caldwell, where he served as Chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Prior to that, he was a partner in Dearborn & Ewing where he concentrated on corporate law.
He served on the Governor’s Task Force on Biotechnology in Tennessee and served as Chair of the Tennessee Biotechnology Association.
He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1980 after attaining a Ph.D in American History from SUNY Binghamton in 1974. He taught from 1974 to 1977 at SUNY Plattsburg, Bucknell University, and Texas Tech University. He graduated from Rhodes College with honors in 1969.
He and his wife Katherine have a wonderful daughter who is a senior at Davidson College. She is contemplating what she wants to do when she grows up. .
