Jan has been a family and divorce mediator for the past 16 years and has sucessfully mediated hundreds of cases. Her focus is on assisting parties in decreasing the financial and emotional cost of resolving divorce and parenting plan issues. Jan often works with couples prior to their retaining attorneys, so that in the event they reach agreement there can be an uncontested divorce upon one or both retaining an attorney to process their agreements through the Court.
Jan also works with unmarried parents, post-divorce parenting issues including child support, and as a Parenting Coordinator in high conflict divorce/post divorce situations.
Jan has a social work background having worked for what is now DCS prior to attending law school. She was Special Master of the Fourth Circuit Court where she investigated "custody" cases. She has been a family law attorney for many years and now limits her practice to mediation/parenting coordinator services and uncontested divorces.
Jan earned a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and a J.D. degree from Nashville School of Law.
Jan has received extensive training throughout the country in family and divorce mediation and as a Parenting Coordinator. She is a Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Mediator. She is also trained in the mediation of family conflicts involving domestic violence.
