Mediation Requirement For all divorces anywhere within the state (including those without children) parties must attend a mediation session for all divorces filed after July 1, 2007 unless there is severe financial hardship or domestic violence and the parties have not agreed to mediate. Unless waived or continued, the mediation session must be completed within six months of filing the divorce complaint. All divorcing parents are required to attend a four hour parenting educational class. For classes in your area, click http://www.themediationgrouptenn.com/pg50.cfm Also on our website is an excellent video, The Evans Matter. We urge you and your spouse and extended family to view this video. It explains the who, what, when, where and why's of mediation, and reminds divorcing parents they have the power to make decisions about their individual future, and the future fo the most important people in their lives: their children.
